Charles A. Olson of Pocahontas, died on Friday, December 4, 2020, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Charles Arthur Olson was born on January 19, 1935, near Palmer, Iowa. He was the son of C. Arthur and Elnora M. (Ihnen) Olson. He attended school at Palmer.

On April 30, 1954, Charles married Beverly Kaye Hoffert at the old Pocahontas Methodist Church. The couple lived in Palmer and Pocahontas. Charles was employed for many years as an electrician. He was also employed as Custodian at the Pocahontas Court House for 22 years retiring in 1994. He could fix about anything as a handy man. Many years he worked with his sons as a mechanic on their cars and his daughters also learned to work on cars and mowers. Charles entered the Pocahontas Manor in May of 2015.

Charles was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was also previously active in the delivery of Congregate Meals. Charles and Kaye enjoyed Country music and their yearly trips to Branson, Missouri, which they called their home away from home.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye; sons, Dana (Jenifer) Olson of El Cajon, CA, Dallas (Lori) Olson of Pocahontas, Jon Olson of Pocahontas, and Joel (Lynette) Olson of Greenfield; daughters, DeAnn (Marty) Cundiff of Pocahontas and Janelle (Dan) Moellers of Marshalltown; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Judy) Olson of Lee’s Summit, MO; and five nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, C. Arthur and Elnora M. Olson; sisters, Vera Ann Hauswirth and Ruth Williams; brothers-in-law, Gaylen Williams and Dean Hauswirth and nephew, Darin Olson.
