Mrs. Westgate was a former clerk in Pleasant Grove and had worked at Kramer Food Service Center at Kansas State University.
She was born Sept. 15, 1902, in Manhattan, the daughter of Frank S.Allen and Ivy May Chandler Allen. She had been a longtime Manhattan resident. Mrs. Westgate had worked as a clerk in Pleasant Grove and at Kramer Food Service Center at Kansas State University, Manhattan
Mrs. Westgate was a member of Blue Valley Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school. She also was a member of X Farm Wives Club, American Legion Auxiliary and AARP.
She married Donald P. Westgate on Nov. 14, 1923, in Manhattan. He died Dec. 5, 1968. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ellsworth Westgate, and a daughter, Ivalee Westgate.
Nellie Elizabeth Westgate, 98, Manhattan, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at a Manhattan Stoneybrook retirement community.
Survivors include three daughters, Hazel M. Gleason, Mission, Texas, Winifred P. Trotter, Winterville, N.C., and Jessie M. Ruddell, Alamosa, Colo.; three sons, Myron E. Westgate and Daniel J. Westgate, both of St. George, and Wilfred P. Westgate, Mission; a sister, Bessie Inman, Manhattan; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
