At 12:30 the services in memory of Brother Silas Pottorff, were conducted by C.L. Walker, in the Christian church.
Brother Pottorff was a man well and favorably known being an old resident of the county. He was a veteran of the Civil war, a member of the 3rd, Iowa Calvary, Company D. He was also a worthy member of the Christian church at Floris.
He was in his 72nd year. He was united in marriage to Lucinda Jay, June 12, 1859. Ten children were born to them seven of whom with the widow still survive him. He was a good citizen, a modest, unassuming man of whom no harm could be spoken.
