Vera M. Smith, April 6, 1929 - December 3, 2020.
Vera Maxine May Smith went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Born on April 6th, 1929 on a small farm in Ontario, Oregon to Blaine and Effie May, Vera was the last surviving sibling of her large, vibrant, Christian family of 11 brothers and sisters. Always an independent spirit, Vera eloped to marry Douglas Smith and with him traveled the western states wherever his job as a U.S. Surveyor would take them. Together they raised two sons, John and Tim and enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Vera was a very intelligent and self-motivated woman who was successfully self-employed most of her life. She owned and operated a beauty salon and later, her own insurance agency. Wherever she moved, Vera was involved in her church and community, always happy to provide piano or accordion music. Even in her last days, Vera entertained the assisted living residents with her piano playing. Her optimistic, friendly spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Doug, their children John and Timothy, her parents and all 10 of her siblings.

Composed by Vera’s niece, Joanne Morgan
