Leo Wyatt Eakin age 84 of Oakwood, TX, formerly of Strong, AR, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at his residence in Oakwood. Leo Was born on September 26, 1936 in the Rosboro Community near Glenwood, AR to the late Hazel Harper Eakin and John Floyd Eakin. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a retired papermaker, serving 28 years with International Paper Company before his retirement in 1994. He was a longtime member of Union Methodist Protestant Church of Strong and was a member of the free and accepted masons of Strong, Arkansas, Loge # 591. He was an avid Houston Astros and Strong Bulldogs fan, and was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Margaret “Joan” Eakin; one brother, Billy Jim Eakin, and one sister, Jeanell Cogburn.
Survivors include; one son, Randy Eakin of Oakwood; one daughter, Lea Ann Matthews and husband Gary of Crosby, TX; one grandson, Harley Eakin and wife Chelsea of Oakwood; one granddaughter, Hannah Eakin of Oakwood; one great grandson, Kaeson Wyatt Eakin of Oakwood; and one sister, Linda Risinger and husband Bob of El Dorado.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Union Methodist Protestant Church, with Bro. Donald Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Teel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
