David Brian Batey, passed away on November 30, 2020 at home with his wife, by his side. He was born in Kalamazoo on August 5, 1947 , the son of Harold and Marian (Shafer) Batey. He was in the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam. He was a heavy duty diesel mechanic and retired from Goodyear Wingfoot and worked part time at D&S Auto after retirement. He always had a strong interest in learning what made things tick and how things worked. David took pride in his ability to fix anything. David volunteered for the Honor Guard at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Mondays. He was proud to give his time to volunteer and honor fallen Vets. He was always the first person to help a friend or family in need. His many other hobbies included playing guitar in a classic rock band and later hosting Karaoke on Saturday nights at the V.F.W., camping and geocaching with family, and hosting many Memorial Day cookouts. David is survived by his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren: 1great-grandchild as well as step-grand and step-great grandchildren: brother, 2 sisters, several nieces & nephews.
