James Nicholas Scobee,better known to his many friends as "Nick",son of James Stinson and Alta Henderson Scobee, was born 7 Feb.1882 near Sidney,Mo.,and departed from this life at his home in Greencastle,MO.,
Sunday 20 July,1947 at the age of 65 years,5 months and 13 days.
On 28 April, 1904,he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Rosetta Lewis and to this union ten children were born,two of them dying in infancy.
Surviving are his wife,six sons,Dade of Greencastle, Merle,Ray and Harold of Des Moines,Iowa, and Robert and Howard of Kansas City,MO. and two daughters,Mrs. Alta Abarr and Mrs. Alice Bailey of Trimble,MO.;a brother, Frank,of Novinger and fifteen grand-children.
His parents,James Stinson Scobee and Alta Zera Henderson Scobee,four sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
In 1913 he became a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ and remained in that faith until his death.
He was known far and wife for his musical talent,and has contributed much to the happiness and enjoyment of his many listeners.He was a kind husband and father,a fine neighbor and friend and will be missed by all.
Funeral services were held at the Greencastle Methodist Church Wednesday,July 23,
conducted by Elder Clyde Johnson.Interment was in the Greencastle Cemetery on direction of Glenn E. Kent & Son funeral directors.
