Mrs. Julia Patricia Cook, 80, of Euless, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2020. She was born in Archer City, Texas on April 4, 1940.
She was very open about growing up “dirt poor” and because her mother worked there she grew up and was educated at Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas, Texas. After leaving Buckner, she received a full academic scholarship to and briefly attended Mary Hardin Baylor. She did not graduate because she couldn’t stand being away from the love of her life, Norman Everett Cook, Jr., with whom she recently celebrated her 59th anniversary and to whom she was married on November 24, 1961.

Julia (aka Patty) had many jobs, including swim coach, secretary, and lemon chill vendor, but her greatest accomplishments included her stint as the owner of ETC Secretarial Service, and then as the co-owner, with her husband, of Wilshire Village Apartments. She was a longtime member of Cross City Church (First Baptist Church) Euless, Texas, and for many years was a fixture singing alto in the church choir.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Emmett Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Gerald Johnson. She is survived by her husband: Norman Everett Cook, Jr., Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Jerry and Cindy Cook, Gary and Stacy Cook, David and Shoshana Cook, Grandchildren: Allison Johnson, Lauren Womer, Amanda Moll, Amy Cook, Andrew Cook, Cosette Cook, Sisters: Lottie McCreary, Ida Johnson, Eve Williams, and brother Buell Johnson.

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Julia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org/.

Funeral Details: Visitation at 9:00 am on December 4, 2020, with funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. and committal service at 11:00 a.m.
