Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital, Biloxi, Miss. He
was 56 and a native of Port Gibson, Miss. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son
Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Visitation in the funeral
home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted
by the Rev. Kris Chenier. Interment with military honors in New Beulah Baptist
Church Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Brenda Cannon Thomas, Hammond; two sons,
Shelby Joe Thomas Jr. and Danny Dale D'Antoni, both of Springfield; a daughter,
Pamela Kaye Theobald, Athens, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Taylor Nicole and
Shelby Jean Theobald. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. and Rose Wade
Thomas; and two brothers, Paul "Buddy" Thomas and Farrell Frances Thomas.
