Kenna Joseph Heatherman III, age 76, of Oakland, MD passed away on November 27, 2020, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. He was born March 17, 1944, in Huntington, WV; a son to the late Kenna Joseph Heatherman II and Betty (White) Heatherman.

Joe attended St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Huntington, WV and Marshall University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education. He continued his education at Bowie State University completing a master’s program in Administration. Joe spent most of his teaching career at Southern Garrett High School where he taught drivers education and coached wrestling. More recently, he was employed at Enterprise. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Elks Lodge #2481, and the American Federation of Teachers.

Joe met the love of his life, his wife, Linda at Marshall University. After marrying, they shared a lifetime full of travel and adventure that included family camping, sporting events and casino trips. They followed and supported their grandchildren’s school and extracurricular activities. Joe had quite the sweet tooth and a particular fondness for Butter Pecan ice cream (or really anything that Linda cooked.) He admitted his favorite sport was golf but he loved sports in general. He also enjoyed flower gardening, listening to jazz music and horse racing. Joe’s true passion was for his wife and the beautiful family they created together. He was a very proud husband, father and grandfather.

Joe is survived by four daughters, Patricia Mustipher and husband Sam of Owings Mills, MD, Kristina Heatherman and Tom Moran of Dallastown, PA, Beth Lucadamo and husband Michael of Frederick, MD, and Kelli A. Heatherman and wife Lynn Alixis of Green River, WY; grandchildren, Samuel Mustipher, II, Patrick “P.J.” Mustipher, Chase Moran, Cody Moran, Rocco Lucadamo, Jaxson Heatherman; a step granddaughter, Victoria Wahl; siblings, David Heatherman, Tommy Heatherman, and Carol Hall; cousins, Alice Wright Pettsway, John Wright, William Thomas Wright, Sarah, Mike Herald and Jeanne; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Deitz and wife Georgene.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Linda D. Heatherman in August 2018; and two aunts, Iva (White) Wright and Ellen Ann Cooney.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 208 S 4th St., Oakland on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Father Doug Kenney officiating.

The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is honored to be serving the Heatherman family at this time.
