Daniel James Gross, son of Jacob A. Gross and Katherina Leier of Orrin, ND, departed this earthly plane on January 16th, 5PM, 2020. Daniel had an accomplished career with Armour and Co. in MN, and with various landscape firms in Portland, OR. He was known for his marathon running and love of sports, including handball and heavy weights lifting. Daniel ran in the Portland ORRC (Oregon Road Runners Club) and the Honolulu marathons winning both gold and silver medals - his determination and charming smile made him a joy to be around.

Daniel was raised in rural North Dakota and enjoyed farming and country music, playing guitar and harmonica to old country standards. Our neighbors, the Eisenzimmer(s), said they could often hear the music from Uncle Ben and Barbara's farm in Balta. Many have agreed that Daniel was "the salt of the earth" displaying solid country values that he learned growing up on the family farm in the Balta/Orrin community.

Daniel is survived by 29 nieces and nephews including Debra of San Jose; Anne and Shirley from MT; and Agatha from Austin. Lois from Superior; Karen of Grand Forks, and Kathy from Minot. Jackie & Grace's five - Ron, Don, Terry, Mike, and Marge; Lisa of Minot and Karen, Geneva, and David Allen from MN; Gary and Gayle also from MN; Linda & Timothy from NM. Dale from MN. Deborah, Sherry, and Lionel of Minot and Lisa in KY; Wayne (GA); and Beulah, Ardie, and Cindy of Northern CA. Beloved cousins are Richard of Seattle; Bob in Minot; and Delores in San Diego.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. God bless Daniel from all our hearts to all eternity.
