Thomas Larson was born in Bagley on January 3rd,1941, the son of Myrl and Spencer Larson.
Thomas was a 1959 graduate of the Bagley High School and began his career in the dairy industry at the age of seventeen where he worked at the Bagley Creamery. After his time at the creamery he worked for A.M.P.I. (American Milk Producers Incorporated) as a dairy fieldman where he faithfully remained for over 50 years until his retirement in 2009. Thomas married his high school sweetheart Joyce Christenson on July 2nd,1960. Together they had three children. Joyce was taken from Tom at the young age of 35 due to a battle with cancer. Later, Tom married Carlys Erickson of Bemidji. Together they had two children. Carlys lost her battle with cancer in 2012.
Thomas had a passion for his family, the great outdoors, farming, and music. You might find Tom on a tractor, in a deer stand, cutting wood, or spearing northern pike. Anyone who knew Tom, knows he was a family man. Tom spent his life raising cattle. He enjoyed farming with his father and was hoping to spend time farming with his son. As a young man he rescued several wild animals later turning them into pets. Deer season was an annual Larson event with more talking and sharing than deer shooting. You could often observe Tom tapping his toes or singing along with a good country song or hymn. In his early years he was even part of the band called the “Nashville Trash.”
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Myrl and Spencer Larson, Joyce (Christenson) Larson, and Carlys (Erickson) Larson.
Thomas is survived by his children, Michael Larson (Edith), Daniel (Tama) Larson, Lisa (Daniel) Balaun, Peter (Sarah) Larson, John (Kristin) Larson, step-son, Larry Farr.; grandchildren: Breann (Lance), Jennifer (Andrew), Devin, Spencer (Kylie), Alexis, Olivia, Ida, Elsie, Oliver, Owen, Otto, Nick, and Eli. and 2 great grandchildren: Tayia and Beckett; his siblings Gail (Elmo) Skare, Bruce (Mary) Larson, Carol (Steve) Bergquist, Warren (Laine) Larson, and Sue (Scott) Omdalen.
