Barbara Elizabeth Scott Grappe, 81, and life long resident of Campti passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, at Christus Schumpert Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jacob Thomas officiated a rosary service Tuesday, May 25 during visitation. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti with the Rev. James Foster officiating. Interment will be at Campti Catholic Cemetery following the services.

Although Barbara has left us to live eternally with God, her family and friends that preceded her, she will forever be remembered for her steadfast love for God, her family and her friends. She will be missed but will live on through the many lives she has touched as an example of God's goodness and love on Earth.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Buford I. "Trixie" Grappe Sr.; and three sons, Thomas Andrew Grappe, Paul Allen Grappe and John Michael Grappe.

She is survived by two sons, Buford I. "Trixie" Grappe Jr. and wife Barbara of Campti and Ronald E. Grappe of Houston; eight daughters, Peggy E. Cooper and husband Bobby of Campti, Patricia G. Hernandez and husband Ted of Shreveport, Barbara E. Palmer and husband Richie of Picayune, Miss., Ruth Eaves and husband Keith of Natchitoches, Teresa A. DeLatin and husband Rodney of Shreveport, Mary Sue Jagers and husband Jim of De Berry, Texas, Monica L. Grappe of Shreveport and Beverly C. Rabalais and husband David of Anacoco; one daughter-in-law, Sheila R. Grappe of Fairview Alpha; 31 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one special friend and constant companion, Samson.

Pallbearers will be Dale Grappe, Chris Grappe, Steve Grappe, Jeff Grappe, Chad Lester, Chris Surgi, Brian Eaves, Craig Daigle and Joey Antilley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Grappe's name to the Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Campti or The Nativity Ladies' Auxillary, 119 Tally Street, Campti, LA 71411.
