OSWEGO, NY – Kathryn (Kay) Turner, 95, a resident of Bishop’s Commons, went to be with her loving God early Saturday morning, December 3, 2016, at St. Luke Health Services.

Born in Fulton, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Laura (Chambers) Arkland and was a longtime resident of Oswego.

She was happily married to James P. (Ike) Turner for 49 years, until his death in 1993.

She was a member of Columbiettes, RSVP, Goldfinch Chapter of Home Bureau, Sacred Heart Altar Society and a longtime volunteer of Human Concerns.

She was also employed with the Kline’s Department Store.

She was an avid bowler, golfer and she enjoyed her visits to the casinos.

She was a woman of strong faith and trust in God, prayed for everyone and was said by many to have a “direct line to God’s ear.”

She was an active communicant of St. Peter’s, St. Paul’s and Sacred Heart churches.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.

Family always came first in everything she did.

She was a loyal and faithful friend, loved and cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by three daughters, so grateful for her loving guidance in their lives, Patricia Whaley of Lycoming, Barbara (Frank) Tercek of Chardon, Ohio, and Kathryn (Dennis) Grandjean of Ontario; seven grandchildren, Michael and Bill Whaley, Jason, Matt and Brad Tercek, Susan Liebelt and Jennifer Grandjean; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home and 9:00 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends my call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m.
