Michael Glenn Harris - December 26, 1959 - November 29, 2020
Michael Glenn Harris, 60, passed away November 29, 2020 after a courageous two-year fight with pancreatic cancer that recently metastasized to his liver. Mike was born December 26, 1959, in Waco, Texas, to Chester and Janette Harris. He was raised in Waco. He graduated from Richfield High School in Waco in 1978. He worked at local gasoline stations as a teenager. At 19 he was hired at M&M Mars in Waco, where he worked for 31 years, retiring in December of 2009. He and Donna Campbell were married March 20, 2009. Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife and friends. He took 2 long motorcycle trips with Ed Wilson, one of which turned into 5 ½ weeks, traveling the west coast. Another 5-week trip that he and Ed took was from Florida to the east coast into Canada, then through Michigan and back to Waco. He and Donna each rode their own bikes to Florida to see their friend, DJ. They also rode with friends to South Dakota, New Mexico, Arkansas, and multiple places throughout Texas. He was so proud of his most recent bike, a 2018 Indian Roadmaster, that he purchased on a trip to see DJ in Florida, then rode it back home to Waco. He insisted that Donna also get an Indian motorcycle and helped her pick-out a 2018 Indian Chieftain. Mike loved to keep his vehicles and motorcycles clean and was teased about washing and waxing the paint off the vehicles. He also loved keeping an immaculate yard and was always mowing the grass, even with the smallest bit of growth. This year while he was sick from chemo, he started ordering kits to put together, and built RC cars and clocks. He also enjoyed going to see his grandchildren. Mike has four grandchildren of whom he was very proud. Elizabeth and Hannah are twin girls born to Sheena and Jeremy Dudik, and Carter and Camryn, children of Ashley and Kyle Margeson. Mike and Donna also had great memories traveling to England, Scotland, and Rome, as well as several cruise trips throughout the Caribbean. Mike made many friends during the years he worked for M&M Mars. He was so personable, and everyone enjoyed being around him. He was predeceased by his father, Chester Lee Harris, on September 12, 2016; his mother, Janette Gross, on October 16, 2014; his brother, Brian Harris, on April 14, 2005, his brother, Claude; and his half-sister, Kathy. Survivors are his wife, Donna Campbell Harris; daughter, Sheena Harris Dudik and her husband, Jeremy, and their daughters, Elizabeth and Hannah; daughter, Ashley Canaday Margeson and her husband, Kyle Margeson, and their children, Carter and Camryn; father-in-law, James Frey, and mother-in-law, Ruth Frey; sister-in-law, Dee Cowan; special cousin, Larry Brumfield; niece, Tanci Harris Hommel and husband, James Hommel, and children, Remi and Raylee; nephew, Justin Cowan and wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Harper; special friends, Ed and Sheryl Wilson, David and Beverly Youngblood, D.J. and Shannon DeJesus, Judy and Rick Bettinger, and Rick Bettinger Jr.; also many other cousins, nieces, nephews, step-brother and step-sister, and friends from M&M Mars in Waco.
