Phyllis Irene Webster, 90, of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, surrounded by her family at Sunset Home in Quincy.
Phyllis was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Wessington, S.D., a daughter of Fred William and Sarah Frances Robinson Cox. She married John B. Webster on Feb. 8, 1947, in Milton. John died May 25, 2007.
After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1946, Phyllis worked for eight years at the Brown Shoe Factory before starting her own business, the Webster Dairy Dip in Pleasant Hill, which she operated from 1956 to 1976. More recently, she was employed by Mercantile Bank in Louisiana, Mo., from 1979 until her retirement in 1991.
Phyllis was an active lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church. She enjoyed helping establish the Harman House Museum in Pleasant Hill, refurbishing homes and furniture, gardening, quilting, scrapbooking and painting.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry D. (wife Melanie) Webster of Rockport and John Scott (wife Janice) Webster of Quincy; five grandchildren, Patrick Webster of Pleasant Hill, Mark Webster of Pleasant Hill, John Webster and fianceé, Johanna, of Montgomery, Kelsey (husband Andrew) VonderHaar of Quincy and Brenna Webster and fiancé, Josh Zanger, of Quincy; three stepgrandchildren, Carrie (Peter) Stead of Auburn, Lucas (Savanna) Conkright of Springfield and Katelin Conkright of Pittsfield; four great-grandchildren, Jack, August and Gweneth Webster and Cole VonderHaar; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaylee and Ayla Stead, Nolan and Nash Conkright; a brother, Carroll (wife Susan) Cox of Pittsfield; a sister-in-law, Barbara Cox of Pittsfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Keith L. Cox and Leroy Cox; and an infant granddaughter, Sarah Jane Webster.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church conducted by Brother Mark Bragg. Burial will follow in Wells Cemetery near Pleasant Hill.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Lummis Funeral Home.
MEMORIALS: Pleasant Hill Christian Church or Harman House Museum.
