Born in Leitriam, Ireland
Died in Washington D. C.

Prior to his enlistment in the 7th U. S. Cavalry on 22 January 1872 he was a milk hand. At the Battle of the Little Big Horn he was in Company D under Thomas Weir. Weir with some of his troop attempted to go to the aid of Custer and the companies in the fight up the river, but were forced back by the Indians to Reno Hill. Green may have been one of those troopers.
