John O'Byrne Connor of Palacios died December 7, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born November 10, 1933 in Gilmer, Texas to the late Weldon L. and Mary O'Byrne Connor. He had served our country as a U. S. Marine. After years of coaching, teaching and a principal for the Sheldon ISD, he retired in 1989. He was a former Mayor of Palacios, and was currently a member of Matagorda Co. Appraisal.
He is survived by his wife Diane Connor of Palacios; daughter Janet Kolaski & husband Christopher of Humble; son Patrick Connor & wife Cheryl of Santa Fe; sister Mary Ann Grant & husband Ted of Pasadena; brother James Connor & wife JoAnn of Kilgore; grandchildren Cheyenne Barham & husband Heath, and Christopher Connor; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of John Connor may be made to St. Jude Hospital, MD Anderson or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

John was a graduate of Jacksonville High School Class of 1952. He had served our country as a U. S. Marine. After years of coaching, teaching and a principal for the Sheldon ISD, he retired in 1989. He was a former Mayor of Palacios, and was currently a member of Matagorda Co. Appraisal.
On December 22, 2020, son, Patrick Connor passed away as well.
He is survived by his wife Diane Connor of Palacios; daughter Janet Kolaski and husband Christopher of Humble; sister Mary Ann Grant and husband Ted of Pasadena; brother James Connor and wife JoAnn of Kilgore; grandchildren Cheyenne Barham and husband Heath, and Christopher Connor; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service with Catholic Rites is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Donations in memory of John Connor may be made to St. Jude Hospital, MD Anderson or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
