Rev. Thomas Charles, Jr., 82, of Norman, passed away on November 30, 2020, at his residence with his wife by his side.
Rev. Charles was a member of Kurtz Nazarene Church. He graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in 1974, and he was also ordained by the Church of the Nazarene in Evansville in 1974. He loved God and pastored at seven churches throughout his life, including Newbern, Evansville, Linton, Hammond, and Lebanon, Indiana, as well as Confluence and Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time.
Born on November 19, 1938, in New Castle, he was the son of Thomas Nathan and Stella Mikels Charles, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 2, 1960, he married Janet Sidle and she survives in Norman.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Ann (Mike) Fish of Lebanon, Indiana; two sons: Thomas Dale (Meshiel) Charles of Newburgh, Indiana, and Timothy A. (Pamela) Charles of Norman, Indiana; six grandchildren: James Nance III, Nicolas (Christel) Nance, Allen Fish, Brittany (Dustin) Gunter, Ashley (Jason) Saxton, Tyler Charles; seven great-grandchildren: and four sisters: Betty Smith, Myrtle Edwards, Carol Nowland, and Pat Hanner.
Rev. Charles was also preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Charles, Monta Charles, and Ted Charles.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, private funeral services for Rev. Thomas Charles, Jr. will be conducted at Kurtz Cemetery on Saturday, December 5, 2020, with Floyd Fisher officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.
