Steven Delbert Shelton was born February 22, 1944 in Winfield, Kansas, one of six children born to Sammie D. and Pearl (Meeks) Shelton. At an early age his family settled in Anthony, Kansas.

He served honorably in the Army National Guard.

Steve worked for the Anthony Farmer's Coop for many years. He also worked at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita.

Steve was just a good ole country boy who loved horses, fishing, coyote and coon hunting, showing coon dogs, chickens, and trucks. He was comical, ornery, and a prankster-always enjoying a chance to make anyone laugh.

On November 29, 2020, Steve passed away in Salina, Kansas, after a strong fight with COVID, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon and Floyd Shelton; daughter, Melissa; and grandson, Dakota Reese.

Steve will be deeply missed by his children: Pearlie Reese and husband, Eddie, Kevin Shelton and wife, Debbie, and Regina Miller; companion, Cathy Hooley; brother, Melvin Shelton and wife, Harriett; sisters: Leona Whitaker and husband, Ray, and Della Patterson and companion, Fred Winter; sisters-in-law, Tena Shelton and Dora Shelton; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to him; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The family has chosen to hold a private family service. The service will be available for the public to watch Tuesday, December 8th on www.prairierosefuneralhomes.com. It will be posted on Steve's obituary page.
