Lillie Kathlene (Montgomery) Watson, 94, joined her Lord Jesus Christ in eternity early Friday morning in her Shepherdsville home surrounded by her family. Lillie was born in Athens, Alabama in the family farmhouse where she grew up with with 9 siblings and worked on the family farm until marrying her high school sweetheart, Billy Calvin Watson, in 1946 upon his return from military service at the close of WWII. Lillie was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Shepherdsville where she walked with Christ, an example of love, service and faith throughout her lifetime. Dearly loved by her family, she will be greatly missed by the many souls in the community that came to know and appreciate her sense of humor, laughter, and her love for ice cream. There was never a holiday that she didn’t host or attend with her family, always serving her famous sweet tea and homemade recipes that everyone enjoyed. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her as a constant friend and amazing grandmother that would always love them for who they were. She will be remembered as the sweet, caring wife of 73 years to her husband, Billy, the loving mother of two surviving children, Gayle Engstrom (Rojir) and Kerry Watson, the beloved “ Mamaw” of Chuck Doutrick (Stephanie), Jeffrey Doutrick (Heather), Jennifer Mata (Juan), Calvin Bader (Donna), Jason Watson (Cindy), Andy Watson (Shelly), Crystal Goodyear, Amanda Watson and Jonathan Engstrom, and the honored great-grandmother of 29. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Montgomery, Mattie Clark Montgomery, her husband Billy, sisters Allie Watson, Irene Melvin, Hazel Street, and brothers, Wayne Montgomery and Buddy Montgomery.
