Services at the graveside for Mrs. Wilma Jackson, 93, of East Mountain, will be held on December 2, 2020, at 11 a.m., in the Danville Cemetery with Dr. Tim Smith officiating. Mrs. Jackson completed her earthly journey on Saturday, November 28, 2020, in her home surrounded by her family.

Wilma was born on June 26, 1927, in Birmingham, AL, to William and Willie Myrtle Somers. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham. Wilma met and married the love of her life John Jackson in 1947 and they spent the next 69 years making many loving and happy memories. Wilma was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent cook, especially her desserts. She loved to crochet and was an accomplished seamstress, sewing her children’s clothes when they were young and her daughter’s wedding dress. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia Hurd and her husband Geoff of Pittsburg, PA, Fred Jackson and his wife Barbara of East Mountain; grandchildren, Emily Hurd of Denver, CO, Andrew Hurd and Carolyn Hurd both of Pittsburg, PA, Rebecca Amado and her husband Kenny of Corpus Christi, Jared Jackson and his wife Christina of White Oak; great-grandchildren, Bentley Jackson and Brooklyn Jackson; sister, Josephine Balydoe of Odenville, AL and her furbaby Chewy. Also, left to carry on her legacy are several nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Larry Norman Jackson, daughter-in-law Barbara Kay Jackson and a sister Marjorie Marie Thompson.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to HeartsWay Hospice of Northeast Texas, especially her caregivers Liz, Stacy, and Corrina, for their compassionate and loving care of Wilma during the final days of her earthly journey.
