Sally Ross, age 90 of Montello passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at UW Hospital in Madison.

Sally was born in Liverpool, England to William and Sarah (Sullivan) Noud. As a young child, Sally survived many bombings during World War II, being bombed out of 3 shelters in one night. When she graduated from the Catholic School at the age of 14, she went to the Isle of Man in the heart of the Irish Sea to formally train to become a waitress. She worked at a Greek restaurant there and learned the trade well. Sally married US Air Force Airman Jerome W. Ross on August 28, 1952 in Liverpool North, England and came to the United States with her husband in 1956 on the Queen Elizabeth. Jerome preceded her in death in June of 1983.

Sally and her family moved around and lived all over the United States. She loved it and always said "I am a bird, I like to fly!" Sally was very proud she had visited every state in the United States except two. The family settled in Montello in 1967 where she worked as a waitress at Indian Echoes Supper Club for 19 years, taught at the Guadalupe Center in Endeavor at the same time. Sally also worked at Swiss Colony with her buddy, Pat Crandall and finally at her friend Maggie's restaurant, The Smugglers, until she retired. Sally was an avid and loyal Packer fan since 1956 and never missed a game. She became a citizen of the United States of America in 1980 and was very proud to be an American!

She was a fun and amazing mom, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma. Sally was loved by all people she met and loved them all back! Now Sally is "flying" in heaven as an angel watching over all of us. She will forever be missed!

Sally is survived by her sons: Jerome "Jerry" (Kim), Frank (Betsy), Joe, Vince (Fianna) and grandchildren: Michelle (Joe) VanderWerff, Meghan (Patrick) O'Connell, Samuel Ross, Brett Ross, Stuart Ross, Gabriel Ross, Christina Ross, Sarah Ross and Cullen Ross. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Garrick Staveness, Mikayla and Austin VanderWerff as well as very special friends (aka her personal taxi service): Maggie Holness, Sandi Ladik and family, Patti Bradley and Deb Glaser.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 31 years, her infant sons: Jerry and Stuart, her only daughter, Patti, sisters: Maggie and Agnes, brother, Bill and special friends: Pat Crandall and Carrie Manning.

Due to COVID, a Celebration of Sally's Life will be held when it is safe to gather. Please go to the funeral home website for up-to-date service information.
