She was born Ester Doris Cooper to Nathan and Mollie Cooper at Smitty’s Store in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana on February 5, 1921.
She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister of 8, aunt and friend. Her love of family was second to none, and her smile could brighten anyone’s day. Doris was an incredibly hard worker, whether it was working three jobs plus the duties of motherhood, or building and performing quality control on computer boards, which she did until around the age of 78. Doris was also a faithful member of Foundation Baptist Church in Euless, TX.
Doris is preceded by her husband of 54 years, Lester Lee Ward, whom she married in 1951. Doris is survived by her beloved son, Les and his wife Brenda of Mansfield, TX, grandchildren Christine, Raymond and Tiffany of the DFW Metroplex, thirteen great-grandchildren and scores of loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews from Louisiana.
