Whitaker (Hartsuff), Amy Janine, 39, of Clarklake, MI passed away November 18, 2003 in the loving care of her family and Hospice. Born October 2, 1964 in Jackson, MI Amy graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1982. She graduated from Western Michigan University and pursued a journalism career, which included newspaper writing for the Brooklyn Exponent, Editor of Parma West County Press, Editor of the Michigan Center Journal and Editor of the Town Meeting Newspaper of Elk Rapids, MI. She also worked in Television Editing for Channel 9-10 News of Cadillac, MI. In 2000 Amy joined the Peace Corps, and was assigned in Latvia, where she taught English to Latvian High School students. Amy is survived by her parents, Maurice and Carole Hartsuff of Clarklake, 2 sisters, Deborah Hartsuff of Jackson, Beverly Jones of Traverse City, a niece, Sansaray Jones, 2 nephews, Nathan Hartsuff and Francisco Jones, Her grandmother Margaret Hartsuff, former Husband Gino Whitaker, a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins; many dear friends including Lilija and Justs Gutmane of Latvia.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel Brooklyn, MI. Visitation will be Friday, November 21, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Per Amy's wishes, she will be cremated, In lieu of flowers, family request donations to Universalist Unitarian Church of East Liberty. Please sign Amy's memorial book at www.BorekJennings.com"
