Shirley L. Lindahl, age 60, of St. Charles, IL and Gills Rock, WI, passed away September 30, 2007 after a six month battle with an aggressive form of kidney cancer.

Shirley was born July 2, 1947, in Elgin, IL the daughter of Ken and Lois Johnson. She grew up on the family farm in Plato Center, graduated from Burlington Central HS in 1965 and attended North Park College in Chicago.

Shirley married Robert Lindahl on July 24, 1982 in Elgin, IL. In addition to raising four children, she worked as a church secretary for ten years and was employed for over 25 years at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, most recently as Supervisor of the Medical Staff Office. Her desire to be of service to the physicians and staff at St. Joseph was exceeded only by her love and dedication to her family. Shirley will be lovingly remembered for her interest in family activities, in singing, sewing, serving as a piano and organ accompanist and enjoying Door County.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Bob; four children, Vernon (Lynne) Schabert of Santa Barbara, CA, Julie (Mark) Johnson of Batavia, David (Marie) of Seattle, WA, and Katie (Mike) Lucero of Seattle, WA; her father, Kenneth (Helen) Johnson of Aurora; one brother, Wesley (Candice) Johnson of West Chicago; and seven grandchildren, Genevieve, Grayson and Justin Schabert and Carl, Linnea, Sofia and Isabella Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Johnson.

Memorial service will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles, IL. Rev. Ed Hunter, Chaplain at Provena St. Joseph Hospital officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial visitation will be from 4-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Foundation/Cancer Care, 77 North Airlite Drive, Elgin, Illinois 60123 or to the American Cancer Society, 143 South First Street, Batavia, Illinois 60510.
