Corbe House also is a residence for Sisters of Providence. First completed in 1885 (with additions made later), the home was originally a residence for the priests who served as chaplains for the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence or taught at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The residence is named for the Rev. John B. Corbe who was the chaplain from 1842 to 1872. His assistance in the early years of struggle for the Congregation are noted many times in the books of history of the Sisters of Providence.
