Dennis J. Givens, 73, of Olton, died Friday, November 27, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2020, at Olton Cemetery, with Pastor Sammy Espinosa officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Dennis was born August 17, 1947, in Amherst, Texas, to Delmer and Enid (Wilson) Givens. He graduated from Olton High School in 1965 and went on to play football for Panhandle State and Sul Ross College. Dennis served in the United States Navy as an Admiral's Aid during the Vietnam War before continuing his education and graduating from West Texas College in 1974. He loved animals and spent his time serving on the Olton Junior Livestock Association Board of Directors and announcing the Olton Stock Show for 15 years. Bigger than life, Dennis had a strong sense of humor and loved telling stories. An avid follower of Olton Mustang and Fillie's sports, Dennis could always be found at the football field or in the gym watching the games. Most of all, Dennis loved his family and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Chad Givens, in 1997.

Survivors include his son, Dale Wayne Givens and his wife Denise of Olton, his daughter, Lori Burch and her husband Richard of Muleshoe, brother, Tim Givens and his wife Cindy of Happy, and a sister, Renee Williams and her husband Ken of Olton. He was blessed with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made in Dennis' name to the Olton Junior Livestock Association PO Box 799 Olton, Texas 79064.
