Roy G. Robertson, 78, the sweetest man in the world has passed away peacefully in his home. Roy G. Robertson was born in Tazewell, TN on September 13th, 1942. He was a resident of Harrogate, TN. He died on the beautiful day of Thanksgiving on November 26, 2020. Between those dates, he lived his life to the fullest loving his wife, children, and grandchildren with every ounce of his being. Roy was gifted with the most wonderful, loving personality. He made everyone feel special and always left everyone with a smile on their face. He was born with a bright smile that will never leave your memory. Roy had tremendous natural athletic ability and was hand-chosen to be one of the first players of the very first little league team of Middlesboro, KY in 1953. In 1954 he and teammates won the KY state little league championship and he continued his successful career playing shortstop all the way to his senior year. He was known by many as one of the best players of Middlesboro, KY high school. Roy was also a member of the Gibson Station Baptist Church where he loved and prayed for his church family daily. Roy had many church members who helped complete his relationship with the Lord.
Roy and his brother, Gary Robertson, owned and operated a barbershop for several years on 19th street in Middlesboro called Lee's barbershop. He changed occupations and worked in the coal and copper mines for the rest of his career. These jobs took him to Hazard, KY, and Globe, AZ where he met many special friends in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy Robertson Sr. and Edith (Mckenzie) Robertson; the mother of his children and wife, Grace (Baker) Robertson; their son, Anderson "Lee" Robertson; and their granddaughter, Leigha Marie Robertson.
He is survived by: his wife Tina (Hall) Robertson; his brother, Gary (Emma) Robertson; his children: Roy (Amanda) Robertson III, Steve (Judie) Robertson, and Detra Robertson (John Wiley Brown); his stepsons: Spike Jenkins and Joby (Gwen) Jenkins; his grandchildren: Mathew Greene, Brooklyn Jenkins, Joseph Jenkins, Detra Robertson, Adam Jenkins, Peyton Welch, Darin Robertson, Olivia Welch, Savannah Collins, Chase Jenkins, and Lee Goins; his great-grandchildren: Baileigh Greene, Korbin Greene, and Tatum Greene.
