Larry graduated from Northfield High School in 1963 and entered the U.S. Navy in 1966. He served as an Engineman 3rd class on the USS Dupont in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He attended First Christian Church in Owensville and worked as a heavy machine operator. He was a member of the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge #696, Owensville American Legion #51, and Fort Branch VFW post #2714 where he was the Post Surgeon.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, G. Scott West in 2012 and his wife, Paula (Harmon) West in 2019.
He is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Ellen (Hays) West of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Lanell West of Noblesville, IN; and 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Xavier West.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, IN with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Visitation will be at the grave from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Masonic services will be performed by the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge #696 and Military Honors services will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County.
