OBITUARY: Joyce Hines, Joyce Hines, Apr 28, 1927 ~ Nov 26, 2020 - reprinted from the O'Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home website

Joyce Johanna Hines, age 93, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at the Kinnic Health & Rehab surrounded by family on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2020.

Joyce was born April 28, 1927 in Elmwood, Wisconsin to Philip and Margaret (Weisenbeck) Weber. One of 14 children, Joyce grew up on the family farm and attended Wood school until age 14.

Joyce married Lester Jerome Hines at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood, Wisconsin, on August 6, 1946. Their union was blessed with five boys and four girls. Joyce was a strong and loving wife and mother. Along with her husband, she instilled in their children early in life the value of hard work, a close and loving family, faith in God, and helping others. While her husband was on the road trucking, Joyce stayed at home on the farm with the kids and did the milking and chores.

Joyce worked hard and loved her family and the farm life dearly, even continuing to rake hay well into her 80's. She also knew the importance of taking time to have fun. Together with her husband, she enjoyed camping, weekends fishing at the cabin, playing euchre, snowmobiling in the Northwoods, hunting deer during Hines Family Holy Week (which she did till she was 81). She knitted and crochet many afghans and gave each child, grandchild and great grandchild one.

Joyce was probably best known for the spring and fall garage sales she held for over 50 years, often being referred to as the Wal-Mart of garage sales.

In addition to enjoying traveling with Lester and her family, Joyce was active in their church, taking the eucharist to shut-ins; and the Rush River Trail Riders Snowmobile Club. Together they served 27 years as Bailiffs for Pierce County.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Lester, their nine children, Joe (Judy) Hines, Betty (Dennis) Nelson of Ellsworth, Sue (Charlie) Graetz of Turtle Lake, Alan (Sheila Harsdorf) Hines, Dean (Becky) Hines, Dale (Julie) Hines, Wally (Lisa) Hines of Ellsworth, Wanda (Butch) Kinneman of Hager City and DiAnn (Jim) Fuchs of Ellsworth; Siblings Mary Webb, Margie Carter, Tom (Sharon) Weber, Leon Weber and Dave (Christine) Weber; Sister-in-laws Myrna Weber, Jane Weber and Marlene Weber and brother-in-law Kelly Rassbach; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; Brothers: Delbert, Dan, Phil, Pat and Roger Weber; Sisters: Elaine Thompson, Carol Wittig and Barbara Rassbach; Sisters-in-law: Elaine Weber and Shirley Weber; Brothers-in-law: Lon Thompson, Jack Wittig, Morris Webb and Jim Carter; and daughter-in-law Sharon Hines. Thank you to hospice workers, Kinnic Home and any others.

Due to Covid and to be cautious, a private family funeral will be held at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellsworth. A virtual link will be forthcoming to help you celebrate Joyce's life live on Tuesday with her family. Please check back here for more information on Monday!

Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family and will be used to further the passions that filled her heart.
