Johnnie R. “Big John” Warren, 80 years of age, was born on October 4, 1934, in Linden Texas to Claudis and Tinnie Warren (both deceased).

As a teenager, Johnnie moved to Portland, Oregon seeking career opportunities. Johnnie completed some college and had a 45 year career with Esco Corporation in Portland, Oregon. Within a few years of relocating to Oregon, Johnnie moved his mother and three sisters to Oregon.

Johnnie cared for his family and his country. Johnnie served in the US Army during the Korean War and then returned back to Esco Corporation after his military service.

Johnnie was known as a ‘Gentle Giant’ because he was tall in stature but had a warm smile and kind heart. He was always willing to help out family and friends in times on need. Johnnie enjoyed being active. His hobbies included travel, bowling poker, Keno and golf. He also enjoyed meeting friends for walks around the shopping mall and coffee and conversation.

Johnnie was married to Ella Warren for 50 years. He is survived by their daughter, Tasheaya Warren Ellison and son-in-law, Scott Ellison of Missouri City, Texas; two grandchildren Thaddeus Warren Ellison and Thurmund Warren Ellison; three sisters Marie Dunn, Ruth Dawson and Alfreedia Brown of Portland, Oregon brother Kenny Warren of Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Johnnie also had another brother, Levester Warren, who is deceased.
