He was born September 17, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Roy David Mackey and Ella Mae McNeely Mackey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Adeline Frances McKinley Mackey (2011); son, Michael Mackey; grandson, Jeremy Mackey; sister, Helen Marie Poland.
David was a member of Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church; Past president of the Weirton Steel Company 25 year club; Colliers Sportsman club. He retired form Weirton Steel Corp. as a general supervisor. David also enjoyed employment after "retirement" at Diamond Appliance, and most recently at Marsh Hardware of Weirton, WV.
Surviving are his daughter, Terri Taylor (Johnny) of Dandridge, TN; granddaughter Jenifer Wattenschaidt (Brian) of Radnor, OH; great grandchildren, Stacy, Hailey, Karly, Cory Wattenschaidt; grandson, Brian Lancaster (fiance Kristen Dotson); great grandchildren, Fallyn, David Lancaster; grandson, Zachary Cunningham (Lizzy); great grandchildren, Aiden, Liliana; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Mackey; stepson, Carl Thompson (Karen) of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Matthew, Mason, Margaret Thompson; and our course his beloved pets, Sissy and Curly. He is also survived by several nieces/nephews.
Visitation will be Monday November 30, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until time of the funeral/committal service at 7:00 p.m. at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Pastor William Stout will preside. Private interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Tuesday. Masks are required.
