Obituary for Evelyn Rose Montgomery
Evelyn Rose Montgomery, 80, of Starks, Louisiana, passed away on November 27, 2020, in Vidor, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2020, at First United Pentecostal Church in Starks, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Karl Smith. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2020 at First United Pentecostal Church in Starks.

Born in DeQuincy, Louisiana, on May 26, 1940, she was the daughter of Earl Gibson and Mattie (Droddy) Gibson. Evelyn was a longtime member of First United Pentecostal Church in Starks. She was a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother and a dedicated wife. Evelyn enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved playing video games, declaring herself the “Undefeated Queen of Pac-Man”. She took great joy in spending time outdoors, singing and sightseeing. Anytime you saw Evelyn it was almost guaranteed you could find her cutting up and laughing, with a big smile and infectious laugh to match. She will be deeply missed by all those who came to know and love her throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Montgomery; children, Melissa Ann Lewis and James Vinton Montgomery; parents, Earl and Mattie Gibson; and siblings, Mable Bass, Norman Gibson, Virgil Gibson, Louise Gaskins, and C.J. Gibson.

She is survived by her children, Jo Kingrey of Starks, Louisana, Eldon “Beaver” Montgomery of Orange, Johnny Lewis and wife Lori of Vidor, and David Lewis of Houston; grandchildren, Justin Kingrey, Sharen Kingrey and fiancé Taylor Bland, Robbie Kingrey, Tisha Montgomery, and Jonathan Lewis; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, David Gibson and wife LaDonna, Larry Gibson and wife Audrey, Shelma Trahan and husband Ernie and Sharon Hagar; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Gibson, Larry Gibson, Eldon Welch Jr., Justin Kingrey, Robbie Kingrey and Kent Welch. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Lewis, Eldon Montgomery, and Johnny Lewis.
