Born in 1887 in Bournemouth to parents Reginald Gervis Hargreaves and Alice Pleasance (nee Liddell). His Mother was the inspiration for Alice in the Wonderland books by Lewis Carroll.
He was a Captain in WW1, where both of his older brothers Rex (Leopold Reginald) and Alan Knyveton (also Captains) were killed.

He married Madeline Llewellen Hanbury-Tracy (nee Palmer) in 1929 and they had one daughter Mary Jean Rosalie Alice in 1931.

He died on the 26th Nov 1955 at his home, Longwood in Scotland. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered from an aircraft over the English countryside. (information from "The Real Alice" by Anne Clarke pg. 250)
