Ziba Brown was a Homeopathic Doctor and a Campbellite circuit riding preacher. Husband of Jane Brookins (Coffee). Father of fourteen children - surviving were: George B., Will, Adolphus Ziba "Dolly", America "Mec", Olive "Ollie", Cassius, and Jane "Jennie".

Ziba was a man whom a family member described as tall, dark, stern, "difficult" and a man who never expressed love and never laughed.

Civil War. Ziba was the 2nd Chaplain of the 5th Iowa Cavalry. He became Chaplain after the resignation of Chaplain Jerome Spillman August 2, 1862. The Rev. Brown was a minister in Disciples of Christ. He was commissioned, at Osceola, Iowa. He joined the regiment February 26, 1864 and served until mustering out August 11, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.

After moving to Wilson county, Rev. Brown organized the Disciples of Christ Church in Fredonia, Kansas in 1872.

In 1891 Adolphus Ziba Brown served as a Kansas State Senator from Guilford, Wilson Co., Kansas representing the Farmers Alliance Party, District 35.
