Gerald Oscar Woodard, 95, Greencastle, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at Hendricks Community Hospital, Danville. Born Sept. 4, 1903 in Hendricks County, he was the son of John Acy and Betty (Elmore) Woodard. He had been a welder for Union Carbide in Indianapolis. He was a member of Belleville F&AM 68, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite and Hurst-Collins American Legion Post 281, Cloverdale. He was married to Elizabeth (Brokamp) Bright Woodard. She survives.

Also surviving are four step-daughters, Wanda Williams and husband Fred, and Waneta Bassett and husband Donald R., all of Cloverdale, Wilma Farrington and husband Robert, Greencastle, and Wendy Wright and husband Craig, Pinson, Alabama; four stepsons, Walter Bright Jr. and wife Oressa, and Wayne Bright and wife Linda, all of Greencastle, William Bright and wife Juanita, Pensacola, Florida and Warren A. Bright, Stilesville; 26 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ernest Woodard, and his first wife, Ethel (Hurst) Woodard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Rev. Bill Staley officiating. Burial will be in the New Providence Cemetery, Greencastle
