Stasia B. (Kowalski) Bishop, 84, of Middletown beloved wife of Richard L. Bishop for 54 years passed away peacefully Friday, October 6, 2006 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown.

Born March 14, 1922 in Salem, MA, daughter of the late Ignatz and Rosalie (Woicheliowsky) Kowalski, she lived in Middletown for nine years having formerly resided in East Hampton for 32 years. Stasia was a graduate of Boston College, with a BS Degree and Salem School of Nursing. Before her retirement after many years of service she was employed by Cobalt Lodge as a registered nurse. She was a devoted catholic and attended St. Mary's Church, Middletown. The most important role in her life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Stasia was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and classic movies. She was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Besides her husband she leaves five sons, Gregory Bishop of Vernon, Patrick Bishop and wife Denise of Somerville, MA, David Bishop and wife Darlene of Coopersburg, PA, Thomas Bishop and special friend Suzanne of Lowell, MA, and Andrew Bishop of Middletown; three daughters, Mary Linda Bishop of Lakewood, CO, Barbara Rose Knurek and husband Steven of Manchester, Jacqueline Nasi and husband Richard of Waterford; 10 grandchildren, Timothy Bishop, Sarah Bishop, Katherine Bishop, Jennifer Bishop, Thomas Bishop, Clare Bishop, Meagan Bishop, Justin Bishop, Charles Knurek and Randall Knurek.
