Peter made 729 1st team appearances in goal, keeping 208 clean sheets between 1960-75 & 1976-79.

He represented England 7 times, at a time when Gordon Banks reigned supreme, keeping 5 clean sheets and was a member of the victorious 1966 World Cup squad.
He belatedly received a winners' medal in 2009, after the FA led a successful campaign for non-playing members of the squad to be recognised.

Latterly he returned to Chelsea as a coach.

He is immortalised as a legend on the Shed Wall at Stamford Bridge and on a new montage arranged by the Chelsea Supporters Trust.
