Mrs. Wanda "June" Lewis was born on January 31, 1933, and passed away on November 22, 2020, in Grapevine, Texas.
June Lewis, of Hurst, Texas, passed from this life on November 22, 2020, in Grapevine, Texas. She was surrounded by family and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was born on January 31, 1933, in Walnut Bend, Cooke County, Texas to John Wesley and Bertha Ann (Mears) Magers. She was the youngest surviving sibling of the Magers family. She loved Walnut Bend and attending reunions of the Walnut Bend School. She enjoyed reminiscing of old times in Walnut Bend and stories of walking down the dirt roads and across the old metal bridge to her granny's house and school. She told of watching as oil was discovered in that area and days at her dad's General Store in Walnut Bend. She accepted Jesus in her heart around the age of 12 at a visiting revival and was baptized in the Red River. She was a member of Brown Trail Church of Christ and was active in the Ladies Bible Study and was always "ready to help" especially when her cooking skills were needed.

She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1950 and went on to LVN school. She worked at Medical and Surgical Hospital in Gainesville, TX. She met the love of her life in 1952. Herbert Lewis proposed on their second date and they were married on September 7 of that year. They moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she worked as a nurse at Harris Hospital. They moved to Hurst, Texas a few years later and after their son was born, she enjoyed life as a housewife for many years. After her son went to Texas A&M, she resumed her nursing career at Harris HEB Hospital in Bedford where she worked until she retired.

She and her husband moved to Hurst, Texas in the mid-1950s along with many other young families. She was a member of the IDKDY Ladies Social Group that hosted monthly dinners for its members for over 50 years. This group was also featured in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram when they celebrated their 50th Reunion. Many lifetime friendships were formed here and they celebrated many of life's joys and sorrows together. June loved her family and friends. She loved cooking and made the best holiday dressing. She loved to travel and toured Europe on several occasions with her sisters-in-law. She always wanted to travel to all 50 states and was close to accomplishing that dream. She and Herbert loved to camp, fish, and boat but especially enjoyed when family and friends could also join them at Lake Texoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Lewis, of 46 years and her parents, John and Bertha Magers. Also preceded by her siblings, Sallie Magers Mozingo (Edgar), John "Weldon" Magers (Kathleen Henry), W.J. "Jay" Magers (Geraldine "Jean" Henry), Dorothy Lee Magers Morrison, (J.W. "Scott") and Infant Magers. Preceded too by her in-laws, William Lewis, Norma Covington (Roy), James Lewis, and Joan Greiner (Dr. Bob).

She is survived by a son, Steven D. Lewis (Lesa) of Lockhart, TX and three grandchildren, William (Miranda) Lewis of Hutchinson, KS; Andrew (Ashley) Lewis of Edmond, OK; Dr. Elizabeth Lewis of Lexington, KY, and four great-grandchildren, Sutton, McCoy, Baker, and Witten. She is survived by in-laws Inez Lewis of Gordonville, TX, Mary Jean Lewis of Gainesville, TX, Patricia Smith (Wesley) of Thackerville, OK, and Jerry Lewis (Paula) of Valley View, TX as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
