Dr. John Millard Pike passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2020 at the age of 91. John was one of four children, born in Houston, Texas on November 2, 1928, to Bernice William Pike and Virginia Beuhring Pike.

He grew up and lived his life in Houston, Texas. He attended Lamar High School and went on to graduate from UT Dental School with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. John practiced dentistry from 1952 – 2017. He served in the Korean War in the Army Dental Corps. from 1952 – 1955, earning a Bronze Star for exemplary service. John lived with his wife of 69 years, Patricia Ann Pike, and six children in Houston, Texas. Their second home was a ranch in Halletsville, Texas named Tooth Acres.

John was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed scuba diving, archery, making jewelry, hunting, photography and was an amateur geologist and astronomer. He was President of the Sunset & Bellaire Optimist Club in the 1960's and President of the Houston Gem & Mineral Society in the 1970's. John loved nature and above all, his family.

He is preceded in death by Bernice and Virginia Pike (parents), Beuhring Pike (brother), Dorothy Pike Nash (sister) and Susan Sanford Pike (daughter).

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Pike; son, Herbert Pike of Cortez, Colorado; daughter, Theresa Jones (Dennis) of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, John Michael Pike of Houston, Texas; son John Patrick Pike of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter, Mary Pike of Houston, Texas; sister, Peggy Gordon of College Station, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; grandchildren, Sondra Langland, Julie Brackett, Nicole Pike; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Sarah Langland, Natalie and Avery Brackett, and Jamison Pike Prochnow.

Many thanks to Dr. Yesid Alvarado and his team. Thanks to all the nurses, doctors and ancillary staff for their kindness and the exemplary care they gave our father.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Earthman's Funeral Home Bellaire, 4525 Bissonnet Street, Bellaire, Texas 77401. Visitation will start at 10:00 am followed by a brief mass at 11:00 am. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, Texas 77023. The service will also be live streamed at 11:00 am through Facebook on Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home's Facebook page.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Due to COVID-19, the service will observe social distancing and have masks and hand sanitizer available.
