Delmer “Del” Troy Bass passed away on Wednesday, November 25 at The Forum in The Woodlands, TX. He was 80 years old.
Del was born in Quanah, TX on March 29, 1940 to Henry and Tressa Bass. His family moved to Lubbock in 1954 where he attended Lubbock High School and then Texas Tech University to study accounting. Del married the love of his life, Anita Patty, on November 9, 1963. They were married for 46 years until her passing in 2009.

He began his career as an auditor for the State Comptroller and the Internal Revenue Service before opening his own practice in 1975. Del Bass & Co., Inc. was born in the living room of his home and quickly grew to become a full-service tax advisory firm offering tax preparation, IRS representation, bookkeeping and investments. He considered every client a friend and served them well for over 40 years.

Del was a proud Veteran of the US Army, and an active member of the American Business Clubs (AMBUCS) and the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA). He was also a founding member of the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents (TxSEA) where he held multiple leadership positions over the course of three decades. Del’s biggest passion was people – his family, his clients, and his many life-long friends. He most enjoyed playing golf, bowling, watching football, making people laugh, spending time with those he loved, and helping those in need.

He is survived by his daughter, Traci Sims, son-in-law, Ryan, and granddaughters, Avery and Anna, of The Woodlands.

He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a successful entrepreneur. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
