Ricky graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1971 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at the Pentagon as a Communications Specialist.
Following his military service, Ricky worked as Chief of Material Management in Marion and Ft. Wayne for 34 years with Northern Indiana VA Healthcare Center, retiring in 2008.
Ricky had been a member of the American Legion in Jonesboro. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and golfing. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and played in the VA League. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. Rick was a dedicated family man and cherished the time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a giving and hard-working man who was dedicated to helping others.
Along with his loving wife of 50 years, survivors also include his son, David (Jennifer) Stevens of Marion; granddaughters, Kendra (Jake) Ancil of Gas City, Kelsey (Adam) Johnson of Gas City and Jasmine (Cody) Workman of Marion; grandsons, Tyler Rose of Muncie and Zachary (Jordan) Burton of Fort Campbell, KY; great-grandsons, Elijah, Dean, Isaiah and Myles; great-granddaughters, Adelynn and Emersyn; brothers, Filmore (Beverly) Stevens of Marion, Danny (Linda) Stevens of FL and Dennis Stevens of Marion; brother-in-law, Ricky (Pamela) Wysong of Xenia, OH; nieces, Kristina and Jennifer; nephews, Sean and Jeff; plus several aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog-daughter, Boo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude D. and Lois Stevens; daughter-in-law, Debbie Stevens; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stevens; and in-laws, Bill and Joan Wysong.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Needham Storey Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN 46933.
A service to celebrate Ricky's life was held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the funeral home with Rev. Todd Graham officiating. Burial at Marion National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
