Janet (Staples) Evans, age 88, passed peacefully at Red Cliff Assisted Living in Nephi, Utah on November 23, 2020. Janet was born December 5, 1931 in Kanosh, Utah to Melba Lucille (Whitaker) and Owen Crane Staples. She was the 8th of eleven children.
In August 1951, Janet married Max Duane Baxter in Kanosh, Utah while Max was on leave from the Army. Janet was attending an all-girls school in Denver. They successfully raised 5 boys. Danny, Michael, Raymond, Terry, and Joseph, but lost a daughter, Linda, at birth during their 23 years together.
They lived in Utah, New Mexico, and settled in Nevada until 1963 when Max began battling Cancer. They moved to Utah so Janet could have family assist her in raising a young family while Max was being treated in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. They made some lifelong friends in Holden and Levan as Max recovered. They divorced in 1973 and Janet moved to Arizona. A few years later Janet married Raymond V Evans, a widower with 3 children. Marcus, Victor, Linda.
Janet lived in Arizona until July 2018. All her boys had moved to various locations with their families and Danny brought her to Nephi to be close to Family during her Golden Years.
Janet was a giving and unselfish mother, wife and friend. She was active in her religion and served in Primary, relief Society, Compassionate Service, was always very Politically Involved, and was faithful in defending Christ. She served many years in Temple service as an Ordinance worker.
Janet, to a fault, opened her home to strangers, fed the poor and clothed the needy, even when she had events of need herself. Janet never felt worthy of the Love she received. Both of her Husbands, Max and Ray were Veterans and disabled. Ray was a POW and suffered from PTSD. Janet worked tirelessly supporting her family, entertained and hosted Doctors and Lawyers Max was friends with. Several stayed at their home in Levan and enjoyed Hunting trips with Max and sons while Janet made terrific meals for all.
Janet was well known to be Generous, Hardworking, Independent, Stubborn, Dedicated and was not afraid to speak her mind. She was a Tough Woman and needed to be. Janet was a Terrific Mother, stepmother, sister and Wife.
She is Survived by 2 siblings, her brother, David O Staples and Sister, Kathleen (Kathy) and Ken Beynon, 5 sons and their wives. Janet has a legacy of 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 5 Great-great grandchildren from her 1st Marriage.
She is proceeded in Death by her parents, both husbands, 9 siblings, a daughter and a granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held in Kanosh Utah Cemetery, (South of town) on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
