Chris Nelsen Petersen passed away at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Harlan Hospital, November 25, from injuries caused by an automobile accident early the same morning.
He was born December 24, 1900 in Jackson township, Shelby County, Iowa, son of Peter A. and Ella Petersen.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Kimballton Lutheran church. In January of 1920 he was married to Lydie Andersen. Their first home was near Jacksonville and since then have lived in Shelby, Guthrie and Audubon counties. At the time of his death he and his wife were operating the Fiscus Store.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Emery and Orville, of Fiscus, three daughters, Mrs Iona Myers, Mrs Vivian Love and Shirley all of Atlantic. There are four grandchildren. His mother and three brothers and five sisters survive. His father preceded him in death 24 years ago.
Funeral services were Wednesday at one o'clock at Fiscus home and 2 p.m. at Kimballton Lutheran church. Rev. Holger Strandskov assisted by Rev. Homer Larson of Atlantic. Interment at Kimballton cemetery.
The five sisters surviving are; Mrs Anna Andersen of Walnut; Mrs Ruth Andersen of Dow City; Mrs Cecilia Knudsen of Harlan; Mrs Viola Groves of Oakland, California and Mrs Mamie Rasmussen of Jacksonville. Brothers are; Alvin of Kimballton; Roy of Atlantic and Lake of Harlan.
