Ella Black
Ella Zozelpha "Sally" Black, 93, of Dallas City, Ill., died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.
Born Aug. 19, 1914, in Pontoosuc, Ill., she was the daughter of Ralph and Millie Robinson Jones. In 1935, she married William Edward Jors. He died in 1952. On Nov. 19, 1963, she married Herby "Buck" Black in Nauvoo, Ill. He died Jan. 10, 1984.
Mrs. Black enjoyed reading and cooking. She attended Pontoosuc Community Church.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Jors of Palm Desert, Calif.; two daughters, Maxine Mason of Fort Myers, Fla., and Beverly Miller of Dallas City; two stepsons, Charles Black of Burnside, Ill., and John Black of Prairie Grove, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Helen Hester of Key Largo, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Flack of Dallas City and Rosetta Fritz of Pontoosuc.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter and four stepsons.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Black will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pontoosuc Community Church, with the Revs. Lee Unger and Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City.
A memorial has been established for Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
