Carl was born April 19, 1917 in Chester, Nebraska the seventh child of twelve, to parents Emil and Katherine Margaret (Stroh) Mohr. He graduated from Chester High School where he participated in track, basketball and a member of Nebraska's first six-man football team.
Carl had various jobs including working in the harvest fields and driving a transport truck. In 1938, Carl moved to Lincoln where he attended Barber School. In 1939, he moved to McCook where he ran a barbershop at the McCook Air Base. He later opened his own shop on B Street and later moving to his Norris Avenue location until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Doris Isola Cox on July 6, 1940 in Indianola. They raised two children, Carl Stanley and Mary Lee. They also raised a small nephew, who was born with a heart condition and passed away at the age of six. Together, Carl and Doris, enjoyed their grandchildren, baseball, bowling, fishing, and spending time at their cabin they built at the Cambridge Lake. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before she passed away in 2008.
Carl was a member of the First Congregational Church and McCook Eagles Lodge for over 69 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Katie; wife, Doris Mohr; son, Stan Mohr and wife, Georgia; granddaughter Carrie Corey; and ten sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lee and husband, Neal Corey, of McCook; sister, Berdine Saint, of Salt Lake City, UT; friend, Adeline Kuhlman of McCook; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name to First Congregational Church or McCook pantry.
Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2018, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, NE.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, McCook, NE, with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
