Karen Sue (Lockman) Mahan was born May 26, 1950 at Poplar Bluff , MO the daughter of Elmoe Lockman and Geneva (Williams) Lockman. She passed away September 28, 2007 at her home in Eminence, MO at the age of 57 years.
She was united in marriage to Richard Glen Mahan on April 5, 1969 at Winona , MO and to this union 2 children were born.
She was preceded in death by her father Elmoe Lockman and her father-in-law Albert Mahan.
She is survived by her husband Glen Mahan of Eminence, MO; one son Christopher Glenn Mahan and wife Corrie of Eminence, MO; one daughter Jennifer Lynn Asplin and husband Justin of Birch Tree, MO; four grandchildren Makenna Mahan, and Kylie Mahan of Eminence, MO, Cloey Asplin and Grady Asplin of Birch Tree, MO; her mother Geneva Lockman of Winona, MO; her mother-in-law Lois Mahan of Eminence, MO; two sisters Marsha Kay (Lockman) Abbey and husband Gene of St. Louis, MO; Brenda (Lockman) Lindsey and husband Bruce of Winona, MO; one brother-in-law Dwayne Mahan and wife Linda of Eminence, MO; one niece Angie (Lindsey) Ipock and husband Randall of Winona, MO; three nephews Rusty Lindsey of Winona; Bryan Mahan of Springfield, MO and Zachary Abbey of St. Louis, MO; two great nephews Jordan Ipock-Denning and Benjamin Ipock both of Winona, MO; and a host of other family and friends.
Karen graduated from Winona High School in May 1968. She attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield , MO and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in December 1985. Karen graduated from Southwest Baptist University in July 1996 with a Master of Science Degree in Education. Karen was a member of the Christian Church in Winona , MO until she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Eminence, MO.
Karen taught at Winona Elementary School for 20 years. She had an unconditional love for all children; she treated every child as if they were her own. She was a positive influence for all children, parents and faculty. Karen touched so many lives through her teaching. Karen was a loving spouse, mother, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law and friend. She cherished all of her family and was honored to be called Granny Karen. Her grandkids were the sunshine of her life. She devoted all of her time to taking care of others. Karen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Eminence, MO with Rev. Alan Stringer officiating. Interment was in Bethany Chapel Cemetery at Eminence, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence, MO
