Freda Roten Perry, age 72, of Millers Creek, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical. Mrs. Perry was born June 30, 1948 in Wilkes County to Alona and Ola Roten. Mrs. Perry was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association. Freda enjoyed baking with her great grandchildren. Freda volunteered at the Wilkes County Fair every year, where she also entered her canned goods. Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kelly Lee Yates; brothers, Bud Roten, Clint Roten; and sister, Nell Knepper.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest “Bud” Perry of the home; daughter, Marsha Jennings and spouse Darrell of Millers Creek; son, Chris Yates and spouse Heather of Hamptonville; brother, Cliff Roten and spouse Lois of Millers Creek; sister, Eula Sheets of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Lacy Cave of Iredell County, Hayley Gregory of North Wilkesboro, Amy Jennings and Samantha Jennings both of Millers Creek, Brooke Yates of Charlotte, James Yates of Jonesville; great grandchildren, Charity Bowlin, Ivy Bowlin, Emma Jennings and Canyon Jennings.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arvil Perry and Rev. Charles Younce officiating. Burial will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:00 until 2:00 on Saturday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
