Gary Dean Kern, 80, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2020 at Wagstaff Cemetery, Miami County, Kansas.

Gary was born Saturday, January 20, 1940, in Miami County, KS, the son of Floy and Kathryn (Rupp) Kern. He grew up in the Wagstaff community and graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1957.

In 1959, Gary was married to Virginia Debrick. They became the parents of three children. The marriage ended in divorce.

Gary was united in marriage to Gloria Neyra on September 13, 1999, in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in rural Paola.

He worked as a welder/mechanic for many years. He owned and operated Kern Welding and Repair.

His hobbies were hot rods and motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Phyllis Kern, and a brother John Kern.

Survivors include his wife Gloria of the home; daughters Debra Chester and Deanna Gould; his son Randy (Betty) Kern; two step daughters Rowena and Jennifer; 5 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
